JC Bright
Lives & Works in Kent, Ohio, USA
JC Bright earned a bachelor’s in Fine Arts and Design from the University of Port Harcourt and is currently based in Kent, Ohio, USA pursuing a Masters in African Art History. Colour is Bright’s muse and exists at the centre of his vibrant abstract paintings. Using primary colours as his foundation, he explores themes within familial relationships and Igbo values. He implements a spontaneous and unconscious creative method of repetitive and irregular grid, and manipulates the values of primary colours. His series, ‘Monuments in Honor of Nwanyi Mbaise Okwukwu,’ pays homage to the artist's relationship with his mother and her profession as a nurse.

A highlight of Bright's career is the solo exhibition In Honor of Nwanyi Mbaise, ADA Gallery, Ghana, Accra (2023). He has also been featured in group exhibitions, including Trace with Chilli Art Projects, London (2023); Garden of Musings, No Parking Lagos, Lagos (2022) and A Gathering at Ikollo Gallery, Lagos (2021).

JC Bright will be presented by The Bridge Gallery.
