Jared McGriff
Lives & Works in Miami, USA
Jared McGriff describes his paintings as thought experiments- spontaneous portraits generated through gestural mark-making. McGriff’s paintings depict individuals and the environments within which they exist. He paints figures in states of negotiation and performance, often bargaining with the systems by which they are governed, and with themselves. McGriff explains, “My practice is about spontaneity and memory, focusing on the use of imagined portraiture and landscape to capture ideas and feelings associated with experiences that are universal but personal.”

McGriff received his BA in Architecture from University of California, Berkeley and a MBA from New York University. Beyond numerous solo and group exhibitions, his work is included in the collections of the Rubell Museum, ICA Miami, The Bunker Artspace, The Green Family Art Foundation, Taschen Collection, Knight Foundation, and the Hort Family Collection, all USA. He was the recipient of the 2021 South Florida Cultural Consortium Artist Fellowship, and a year later was the winner of the Orlando Museum of Art’s 2022 Florida Prize.

Jared McGriff will be presented by Spinello Projects.
