Christine Nyatho
Lives & Works in Kampala, Uganda
Born and raised in Kampala, Christine Nyatho’s father originally came from Nebbi and her mother is from Masaka. She is a self-taught mixed media artist and her interest in art dates back to 2015 when she started working as a studio assistant for artist Collin Sekajugo.

Nyatho is fascinated by lunar cycles and how the moon influences human behaviour and harnesses the essence of locally sourced barcloth, raffia and textile. Through these materials, forgotten ideas of a bygone era are resurrected and infused with new life that invite viewers to embark on a transcendent journey through realms of imagination.

Nyatho has participated in different Weaver Bird Residency programmes including various Art camps in Masaka. And recently her work has been showcased alongside that of well-established artists in Kampala, Dubai, and the USA. Nyatho had her first solo show entitled Kafunda Mama at Amasaka Gallery in 2023.

Christine Nyatho will be presented by Amasaka Gallery.
