Cow Mash
Lives & Works in Pretoria, South Africa
Cow Mash (Kgaogelo Mashilo) is a sculptor based in Pretoria. The artist’s current work is inspired by her self-given name "Cow" and the symbolism of the cow within Sepedi traditions, and globally. She situates herself between tradition and the contemporary world, utilising the cow as metaphor for the role of women in society. Synthetic leather and wool are used in place of actual cowhide in her works, reflecting her ideas about the transformation and evolution of culture. Graduating cum laude from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in 2017 with a BTech in Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture, Cow Mash has participated in numerous group exhibitions, both locally and internationally. Her works have been exhibited at Berman Contemporary between 2022 and 2023, as well as the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair London in 2022.

Cow Mash will be presented by Berman Contemporary.
