Talia Ramkilawan is a contemporary artist whose work explores themes of identity, memory, and place. Born in Durban in 1996, Ramkilawan grew up in a multicultural environment, which has heavily influenced her artistic practice. Ramkilawan's work is characterised by bold colours and layered textures which create a dynamic visual experience for audiences. Her work has been recognized for its powerful storytelling and evocative imagery, earning her features in various publications including Artthrob and Art Africa Magazine. Ramkilawan’s unique style and perspective have ensured that she is one of South Africa's most promising emerging artists. After studying Fine Art at the Durban University of Technology, Ramkilawan relocated to Cape Town to develop her artistic career. She has exhibited her work in numerous group shows throughout South Africa, including the Turbine Art Fair in Johannesburg and the Cape Town Art Fair. Ramkilawan's solo exhibitions include "The Space Between Memory and Expectation" at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town, which explored the complex relationship between personal and collective memory.
