Dominique Zinkpè
Lives & Works in Cotonou, Benin
Self-taught artist, Dominique Zinkpè established himself by participating in numerous workshops and residency programmes in Africa and Europe.  Zinkpè’s work is greatly influenced by the rich history of his native country. He creates works in which compositions are largely inspired by animist culture, Christian religion, and his own internal struggles. Far from confining himself to a single form of expression, he utilises all kinds of media that better allow him to express himself including, installation, drawing, painting, sculpture, and video.  His work has been exhibited in Africa, Europe and the United States. He was selected for the travelling exhibition "Art du Bénin d’hier à aujourd’hui" and his works have been part of the collection of the Presidency of Benin in Cotonou, the collection of his Majesty Mohamed VI in Morocco, the collection of the National Museum of Mali, as well as the collection Blachère Foundation in France, and the collection of Montresso* Art Foundation in Morocco. In 2023, Zinkpè received a special mention at the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize. Dominique Zinkpè will be presented by SEPTIEME Gallery and Montresso* Art Foundation.
