Aïcha Snoussi
Lives & Works in Sète, Tunis
Aïcha Snoussi’s work tackles issues surrounding the hierarchies of power that have shaped history and social issues in her country, from a queer perspective. Snoussi embraces drawing as a practice of proliferation, merging her drawings with installations formed of sculptures and meticulously collected, engraved, and assembled objects and organic materials. In her practice, crayons take the shape of a blade, dissecting paper and concepts. She uses fiction to interrogate the validity of memory, explore ruins, vestiges of the erased, gender norms, and resistance. Snoussi has adopted an archeological approach in her work, uncovering the layers of history and meaning through her art. She took part in the group show " Habibi, les révolutions de l'amour " at the Institut du Monde Arabe in 2022, and had a solo show at the Palais de Tokyo " Nous étions mille sous la table" during the same year. Aïcha Snoussi will be presented by Galerie La La Lande.
