Ghizlane Sahli
Lives & Works in Marrakech, Morocco.
After studying architecture in Paris, Ghizlane Sahli returned to Morocco and settled in Marrakech. Passionate about embroidery and fabrics, she decided to open a textile workshop. In 2012, she decided to devote herself to pure artistic creation. Sahli embroiders, sculpts, draws and paints to tell an internal and organic journey, carried by a universal dimension. With the help of ancestral techniques and the know-how of the women artisans around her, she develops her contemporary ideas by playing with materials, scales and volumes. Sahli uses thread to weave and celebrate the subjects that stimulate her: The human body, in its generality, and the female body in its intimacy. She expresses her interiority and her emotions cleansed of any religious, social, educational or generic contribution. In 2023, Sahli presented an exhibition titled (28x4) Et la sève fut… at Christophe Person. The series was a culmination of  work undertaken with groups of women in Burkina Faso, Benin and Dakar following discussion groups about menstrual periods. This is one of numerous solo and group exhibitions that Sahli has done around the world.  Ghizlane Sahli will be presented by Christophe Person.
