Caleb Kwarteng Prah
Lives & Works in Kumasi, Ghana.
Caleb Kwarteng Prah completed a BFA in Painting from the Department of Painting and Sculpture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Accra. He is known for his photographic compositions that represent Ghana’s working class population. Prah documents their often overlooked lives by capturing portraits of this population, blending his subjects into compositions of everyday objects, creating works rich with the layering of textures and colours. His interest lies in capturing the relationship between humans and the commonplace objects they use which have become part of Ghanaian urban culture. Prah borrows aesthetic qualities and compositional concepts from Western art history and applies them to an African context. Caleb Kwarteng Prah will be presented by Nil Gallery.
