Portas Vilaseca Galeria was founded in 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Based in the Leblon neighborhood until 2018, the gallery then moved to a three-story building in Botafogo, where it has been promoting a dynamic agenda of exhibitions and special artistic projects. The gallery currently represents 24 artists from the recent Brazilian contemporary art realm. Born in different generations and from different regions in Brazil, the represented artists develop their research projects in several languages – painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, installation, and performance. More than creators, they are researchers of the visual arts concerned with the status of the image in contemporary times, as well as with the presentation of their productions.
