Jean David Nkot received a degree in drawing and painting at the Institute of Fine Arts Foumban. In 2017, he joined the Post Masters programme “Moving Frontiers” organised by the National School of Arts of Paris-Cergy on the theme of borders.
Nkot uses the body and the territory to explore the human condition. The recurring theme of cartography sheds light on the relationship between uprooted people and territories, as well as the insignificance of individuals surrounding the issues of boundaries. Rather than highlighting the specific characteristics of each individual, Nkot focuses more on how turmoil is expressed in the manner of Zhang Dali, Francis Bacon, and Jenny Saville.
