Brenna Youngblood
Born 1979 in Riverside, California
Lives and works in Los Angeles, California
Brenna Youngblood gathers different elements in her work, recycling and combining different materials such as wallpaper, ribbon, cardboard, material, and linoleum with fake wood and brick on painted canvas. This forms an original blend which is reminiscent of Robert Rauschenberg’s famous ‘combines.’ Another example of Neo-Dada and Pop Art influences can be seen in her work when she inserts manufactured elements like printed letters into her compositions. She steers away from figuration and moves towards conceptual art by choosing objects in a precise context. Her work is part of several international private and public collections, such as the Studio Harlem Museum in New York and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
