Retro Africa presents Jumoke Sanwo’s Lagos at Large and Van Lagos’ Home
Lagos at Large is a virtual reality project developed by artist Jumoke Sanwo, relating a simple story of abandonment told in nine diverse ways. Jumoke is a Lagos-based artist who’s exhibited in the USA, Belgium, UAE, Benin, Chad and Ethiopia, amongst others. Her work addresses concerns on aesthetics and identity, fostering discourse on re-imaging the African continent.
Home is a 360-degree anthology documentary-art film in which five people have been asked to explore the theme of ‘HOME’ using 360-degree technology. The project is commissioned by Retro Africa and VAN Lagos (Video Art Network) founded by Emeka Ogboh, Oyinda Fakeye and Jude Anogwih. Home forms part of a wider series of virtual reality works by Karli-Jade Fontiverio-Hylton and Bosola Ajenifuja.
