Collin Sekajugo draws his inspiration from the human behavioural changes that occur during events of elation or crisis. He strives to bring attention to issues in our fracturing societies that are triggered by discrimination, segregation and environmental change. His work is performative and interactive. His pieces start with a performance that he photographs and prints. He then cuts out the desired image and creates a mixed media collage on canvas or other materials.
Sekajugo’s work is part of the permanent collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Washington DC as well as other notable private and corporate collections in the US, Europe, Africa and Asia. Collin Sekajugo is the winner of the 2019 Human Rights Award Uganda.
