David Uzochukwu is an Austrian and Nigerian artist. At age 13, he delved into self-portraiture and began developing a largely digital practice. This has led to vivid collaborations with artists such as FKA twigs and Iris van Herpen, as well as a commission for the World Wildlife Fund and campaigns for Hermès and Dior.
His self-portrait series A FAMILIAR RUIN was included in a group show titled Dey Your Lane! at Bozar in 2016. He has further participated at Photo Vogue Festival (2018, 2019) and Rencontres d’Arles (The New Black Vanguard, 2021). Uzochukwu was nominated for an ICP Infinity Award in 2019 and for the Prix Pictet in 2021.
His first short film, GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, premiered at Max-Ophüls-Preis in 2021. His first film installation is in development with CPH:LAB. Uzochukwu currently lives in Berlin, where he is working towards a BA in philosophy and cultural studies.
