Bashaer Hawsawi is an artist and designer working with mixed media and found objects. She works around notions of cultural identity, cleansing, belonging, and nostalgia, highlighting changing human concepts and expressions, such as thought, culture, and feelings by using various materials in her work. She relies on continuous research and experimentation to represent the daily realities and events of different human cases.

Hawsawi grew up in a lively environment surrounded by a variety of materials from which she developed a visual memory of her daily life, as well as her parents’ practices and habits. Part of her practice is detailed observation of her environment. She earned her BFA in Sculpture and Ceramics from King Abdulaziz University and has participated in group exhibitions with Hafez Gallery, 21,39 Jeddah Arts, and Manarat Al Saadiyat, among others.
