Born in 1988 in Katiola, Côte d’Ivoire
Lives and works in Bingerville, Côte d’Ivoire
Yéanzi graduated in painting and photography from Lycée d’Enseignement Artistique d'Abidjan (LEA) and Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, both in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. For over a decade Yéanzi worked in the traditional lineage of portraiture before experimenting with more abstract modes of application, including drawing with melted and pliable plastic. He is recognised for his ability to capture the subtle temperaments of his subjects rendered through watermarks and loose, umbrous outlines, that are composed from repetitive circular flecks. Yéanzi’s works have been presented in various locations throughout Côte d’Ivoire and further afield at art fairs such as Art Dubai. Group exhibitions include Platform at Art Twenty One in Lagos, Nigeria in 2015–2016; Studio Lumière at Jack Bell Gallery in London, the UK in 2015; and AAA (Abidjan Arts Actuels) at Fondation Donwahi in Abidjan in 2014. His solo exhibition Persona took place at Galerie Cécile Fakhoury in Abidjan in 2015.
