Lives and works in Pretoria, South Africa
Katlego Tlabelaʼs artistic interests have spanned from social and political crises in Post-Apartheid South Africa; the independent African continent; and the political environment in the US. Resistance, protest, pride and dialogues around race and positive methods of representation of the Black body and experience, are visualised through text-based and visual works often revisiting history and relating it back to contemporary events. Tlabela attended the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art and has had his works included in exhibitions in South Africa as well as internationally.
