Themba Khumalo
Lives & Works in Johannesburg, South Africa
Themba Khumalo is an Orange Farm-raised, Johannesburg-based visual artist. Khumalo’s recent works tackle the social, political, and spiritual conditions of contemporary South Africa through imagery of the landscape. For Khumalo, land is identity. Measured through the lens of his drawings, Khumalo portrays the land as a witness to the dispossession of the people, the use of illegal occupation as protest, and the loss of hope. Across his professional career, which spans 10 years, Khumalo has participated in over 20 group shows, 10 international art fairs, and has presented 5 solo exhibitions both within South Africa and internationally. Themba Khumalo will be presented by Galerie Atiss Dakar.
