Rudy Shepherdʼs work embodies didactic tokens of larger spiritual and socio-political programmes, acting as nourishment and healing mechanism for artist and viewer. Through painting, drawing, sculpture and performance, Shepherdʼs vision of the future encourages individual and societal transformation in the form of healing the present moment. Shepherd received a BS in Biology and Studio Art from Wake Forest University and an MFA in Sculpture from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. Group exhibitions include MoMA PS1, The Studio Museum in Harlem, The Bronx Museum of Art, all New York, The Contemporary, Baltimore and Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield. He has been awarded Artist in Residence at National/International Studio Programme at MoMA PS1, Jacob Lawrence Institute for the Visual Arts and Socrates Sculpture Park, all New York. Public art projects at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh and The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York.
