Lulama Wolf

Lulama Wolf interrogates the pre-colonial African experience in the contemporary context through the use of smearing, scraping, and deep pigment techniques which are inspired by practices used predominantly by African women in vernacular architecture projects to decorate traditional African homes. Her mediums are acrylic and sand on canvas. Wolf has been named one of Business Day’s ‘Wanted21: Young and Vital Artists’, South Africa, and also was a finalist of the Emergence Art Prize hosted by THK Gallery in 2020. Wolf has a collaboration with H&M Home, her distinctive artistic version of contemporary African art decorates the brand’s home decor and homeware pieces.
