Lekleti, Mohamed
Born 1965 in Taza, Morocco
Lives and works in Montpellier, France
Mohamed Lekleti is both unfolding and dismantling the world to rebuild it through new and complex assemblies that challenge viewer perceptions. By using a series of hand-drawn images and multiplying scattered pieces and parts of a still reconstructable truth, he introduces something undetermined and surreal. Lekletiʼs work has been exhibited in internationally renowned institutions and his work is included in several collections including, among others, V&A, London; Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL), Marrakech; Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris; Musée Paul Valéry, Sète; Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Tunis; Fondation Blachère, Apt; AM Qattan Foundation, Ramallah and the Royal collection of Kingdom of Morocco.
