Ahmed Kamel uses a variety of media to dissect the conscious and unconscious choices that have come to define human experiences, focusing on conflict, both on the personal and political levels. In his latest body of work, produced during his residency at the German Ministry for Foreign Affairs, he focuses on how power can be used to influence individual and public perception, change collective memory and subsequently the official course of history. Kamel has participated in residencies such as Mediamatic, Amsterdam; ProHelvetia, Bern and NRW, Düsseldorf. Recent exhibitions include Did not happen, Rooftop Studio at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Berlin (2017); Sight/Spiral, Ersterester, Berlin (2016); Fragments of HiStories, Neuer Sächsischer Kunstverein, Dresden (2016) and About Paradise/ Repetitive Units, Zone B Gallery, Berlin (2015).
