Edozie Anedu
Lives & Works in Benin City, Nigeria
Based in Benin City, Nigeria, Edozie Anedu is a self-taught artist working primarily with oils, acrylics, pastels and recycled materials. Referencing graffiti and the mural art traditions to explore contemporary popular culture, Anedu’s paintings traverse music, fashion and socio-political ideologies. childlike and seemingly haphazard, the artist's liberal brushstrokes are in conversation with his own coming of age story - a journey of excitement, adjustments and hopeful rush to the future. His work embraces a synthesis of innocence, trial and error, memory and melancholy. Edozie has been featured in several exhibitions, residencies and art fairs both locally and internationally, including Art X Lagos, NBB Gallery, Latitude Art Fair, Unit London and several others. Edozie Anedu will be presented by Wunika Mukan Gallery.
