Raphael Barontini’s pictorial practice is an ongoing iconographic research on creolization and afro-futurism, post-colonial studies. The artist is known for addressing these issues in rich scenographies including sound installations enabling him to enlarge the spectrum of classic painting. Recent exhibitions include, Paris-London, Museum of Immigration, Paris (2019); Tapestry from an asteroid, The Pill, Istanbul (2018), Africa state of mind, New Art Exchange Museum, Nottingham (2018); Afrotopia, Afrikamuseum, Berg-en-Dal (2018); The Quiet Violence of Dreams, Stevenson, Cape Town (2016). His work has been exhibited at various biennales and it is part of international private and public collections.
