Dawit Abebe’s work addresses contemporary concerns about the environment, such as high-tech urbanisation and our idea of progress and politics. In 2019 he was picked by Artnet as one of the two most important artists working out of Ethiopia today, and in 2017 he was named “Chevalier of Frances Order of Arts and Letters”. His work is included in the following collections, Barjeel Art Foundation, Sharjah; the Rema Hort Mann Foundation, New York; the Frank Cohen Collection, UK; the Carole Server and Oliver Frankel Collection, USA; The Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection, USA; Ilham Collection, Malaysia and the Saatchi Gallery Collection, London.
