Established in 2011 in Marrakech, VOICE gallery’s mission is to create exhibitions through a socially engaged and geographically aware programme that challenges orientalist perceptions of Arab art as well as the stereotypes on African art, whilst honouring the city’s history of trade. Led by core principles of transformation and exchange, VOICE works to create cultural dialogues reflective of Morocco’s cultural vibrancy and artistic tradition. With a focus both on local and international artists, VOICE gallery forms networks for emerging artists to collaborate beyond the bounds of identity and cultural origins.
VOICE gallery facilitates collaborative projects international institutions. In particular, Soukaïna Aziz El Idrissi has been featured at MACAA and Museo Sa Bassa Blanca; M’Barek Bouhchichi at MACAAL, Mu.ZEE, Institut du Monde Arabe and soon at Centre Pompidou; Aboubakar Fofana participated to the last Monumenta; Moataz Nasr has been featured notably at Havana Biennale 13, 57th Venice Biennale, and Eric van Hove at FRIES Museum, Hood Museum and Vandalorum Museum amongst many others.
