TEMPLON was founded in 1966 by Daniel Templon. It first opened on rue Bonaparte, in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, before moving in 1972 to its current location, rue Beaubourg in the Marais, which opened in 1977. Daniel Templon first gained recognition by exhibiting conceptual and minimal artists such as Donald Judd, Joseph Kosuth, and Richard Serra. Today TEMLON represents a group of international artists. The programme promotes dialogue between generations: established, mid-career, and young emerging artists. The gallery also provides curatorial expertise and assistance in the mounting of exhibitions by its artists in museums or international exhibitions. Many of its artists have participated in major exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale, documenta, and the Whitney Biennale.
