Born in Niger, Yo-Yo Gonthier grew up on Reunion Island. A photographer, Gonthier questions the erasure of memory in a Western society where speed, progress and technology seem to be the essential values. He is interested in the reminiscence of a colonial culture in France and particularly in the overseas territories. Since 2011, he has been building collective artistic and participatory projects such as Le Nuage qui Parlait, Reunion Island (2013), Pierrefitte-sur-Seine (2015), Abidjan (2016), Dakar (2016), Niamey (2016).
