Since Seydou Keïta met André Magnin and Jean Pigozzi in 1991, his works have been exhibited all over the world, most notably at the great retrospective held at the Grand Palais in Paris in 2016. From 1948 to 1962, Keïta ran Bamako’s most famous photography studio. He quickly gained fame in Mali and throughout West Africa for the quality of his prints and the sophistication of his portraits. Keïta’s works were on view at the Musée d’Art Contemporain Africain Al Maaden in Marrakech in 2020 before landing at the Brooklyn Museum in New York the following year.
