Reggie Khumalo presents a contemporary vision of Africa, informed by his travels; woven with rich historical, religious and spiritual context. Initially known for his strong motif large scale portraits he has evolved his work into collages utilising a myriad of bold fabrics that punctuate his female figures and thriving greenery. The use of fabric relates to Khumalo’s desire to take the people he meets with him – these sitters are captured in their element, swathed in opulent garments.
Khumalo is a South African fine artist and motorbike adventurer who devotes his life and work to philanthropy. He has been travelling and working across the continent to bring back Ubuntu and help disadvantaged kids get to school. The successes of his exhibitions across Africa, Europe and the US have helped financially support and grow his philanthropic work.
