
Piniang was trained at Dakar’s National School of Arts from 1995 to 1999, which he followed by a two-year training course in multimedia animation at the Pictoon studio. A pioneer figure in the Senegalese digital arts scene, Piniang is responsible for setting up the course on digital arts at his alma mater, the National School of Arts. Working with a variety of media ranging from sculpture and painting to video and animation, his practice is based on the fusion of materials and deals with themes such as evolution and the environment.
His works have been shown at Dak’Art—Biennale de l’Art Africain Contemporain (2018); Galerie le Douze, Nantes (2011 and 2010); Manchester Gallery (2008); The Bronx Museum of the Arts, New York (2010). His work is part of major international collections, including Art in Embassies, USA; Malmo Museum, Sweden; the World Bank, USA and the Blachère Foundation, France.
