Winner of the prestigious 2016 FNB Art Prize in South Africa, Nolan Oswald Dennis works in drawing and installation. Through a research-based art practice, Dennis’ works through conceptual models for what he calls “a black consciousness of space-time”. His work builds on African histories, popular memory and black information systems as he traces new reference points for occupying the liminal space between the tactical fictions and strategic realities of the black world – what he calls strategies for living (as if) in a dream.
