Lives and works between Paris and Tahannaout, Morocco
Yamou’s work is inspired by organic processes and forms. Through an abstraction of the natural world, he seeks to capture the emotion and power of the organic and cosmic. Yamou’s detailed renderings of vegetal forms offer a liveliness to his paintings and sculptures. His use of lines and colour planes seems to stretch beyond the canvas, displaying different fields of energy, wavering between abstract and figurative, landscape representation and microscopic observation. Yamou has exhibited throughout Europe and North Africa. His work can be found, among others, in the Neuberger Museum, New York; the World Bank, Washington DC; The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, France; the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Tunis and the Nelson Mandela Collection, Johannesburg.
