El baz, Mohamed
Born 1967 in El Ksiba, Morocco
Lives and works in Casablanca, Morocco and Lille, France
After receiving the national diploma of visual art in 1989 from the regional School of Art of Dunkirk (France), Mohamed El baz successfully completed the national diploma of plastic expression from the National School of Paris-Cergy in 1992. He then pursued his studies at the Institute of the Advanced Studies in Visual arts in Paris. Since 1993, El baz has carried out the Bricoler l’incurable project (literally ‘knocking up the incurable’). An unremitting and forceful examination of the trajectories of contemporary social and political issues, this total artwork continually accrues new works, with each exhibition operating as an additional ‘detail’ to the ultimate work. His work can be found in the permanent collection of the National Fund of Contemporary Art in Paris (France), the National Museum of Modern Art in Lille (France), the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (Morocco), The Saham Group (Morocco) and the Société Générale (Morocco).
