Denis Dailleux’s work is propelled by the essential and personal bond he develops with those he photographs. His warmth towards people has led him to develop portraiture as his preferred means of representation. In addition to his projects conducted in Egypt (The Revolution’s Martyrs and Mother and Son), Dailleux regularly undergoes research visits to Ghana, where he pursues his interests in the symbioses between body and space, life and death, the sea and the local community. His work has been published as monographs, such as Égypte les martyrs de la revolution (Le Bec en l’air, 2014) and Fils de roi, portraits d’Égypte (Gallimard, 2008) and is regularly exhibited and published in national and international press. He is the recipient of several awards, most recently being the runner-up in the ‘Staged Portraits’ category of World Press Photo 2014 for his series Mother and Son.
