Lives and works in Marrakech and Taroudant, Morocco
Mohamed Baala is a self-taught multimedia artist. His passion for literature, music and philosophy, as well as his interest for traditional Moroccan and African arts and crafts, form the essential part of his artistic and creative education. Baala uses drawing, painting, collage and sculpture to create installations in which he performs poetry and music. His work has been exhibited at two shows during Not New Now: Marrakech Biennale 6, Marrakech (2016): I Have Life, Yes I Have, Baala+Belli, galerie 127 and Le Laboratoire de la Mondialité, KE'CH Collective, Marrakech. Baala was the 2017 recipient of La Nuit de l’Instant art prize, Marseille.
