Joël Andrianomearisoa’s works transcend the traditional boundaries set by video, fashion, design, sculpture, photography and installation. Often combining sculptural elements and materials exposed to particular situations and environments, shades of black dominate his work. Andrianomearisoa’s solo exhibition, (tba), was shown internationally throughout 2018. He was selected for Afrique Capitales, 100% Afriques, La Villette, Paris (2017) and the 12th edition of Dak’Art – Biennale de l’Art Africain Contemporain, Dakar (2016), with his installation La Maison Sentimentale. Andrianomearisoa has participated in exhibitions at Zeitz MOCAA, Cape Town (2018); Musée d’Art Contemporain Africain Al Maaden (MACAAL), Marrakech (2016–17); National Museum of African Art – Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. (2015); Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt (2014) and Maison Revue Noire, Paris (2013). He was the 2016 recipient of the IV Audemars Piguet Award at ARCOmadrid, Madrid.
