Amine, Leslie
Born 1981 in Saint-Étienne, France
Lives and works in Grenoble, France
Leslie Amine creates original compositions with ink and acrylic. She questions topics such as miscegenation, the mix of cultures and identity. During her various travels, she captures moments, people who move her. Plenty of elements eventually then meet on her colorful canvases: lush vegetation, living cities, an atypical character. Most striking is Amine’s creation of a certain transparency, creating a world split between dreams and reality. Amine graduated from the Art School of Valence and is now settled in Grenoble. She has developed, along the years, her own style, and she has made a name for herself in France and progressively on the African art scene. Selected group exhibitions include Reflets dans la jungle, La Halle – Centre d'art contemporain, Pont-en-Royans (2019); Africa Now, Galerie Claire Corcia, Paris (2019) and Mix[cités], GVCC, Casablanca (2018).
