
Musa N. Nxumalo is a contemporary photographer whose work explores youth culture, identity and the journey to self-discovery. Nxumalo received his introduction to photography at the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg between 2006 and 2008. He has received critical recognition for his 2015 solo exhibition, In Search Of…, SMAC Gallery in Stellenbosch and then exhibited at the Goethe Institute in Johannesburg. Nxumalo has exhibited his work extensively, most notably: Afrotopia at the 11th edition of Rencontres de Bamako, Bamako (2017 – 2018); Art/Afrique, le nouvel atelier, Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris (2017) and recently as part of Night Fever: Designing Club Culture 1960 – Today, Adam at the Brussels Design Museum, Brussels (2019). Nxumalo’s work forms part of several private and public collections, most notably the Pigozzi Collection in Switzerland.
