
Kresiah Mukwazhi’s work focuses on the empowerment of the female body in relation to patriarchal societal norms and raises questions around belief and conformity. Mukwazhi received her introduction to visual arts and photography at the National Gallery School of Visual Art and Design in Zimbabwe and the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg South Africa. Recently Mukwazhi was a resident at Nafasi Art Space, culminating in workshops and artist talks in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2019). Recent exhibitions include her first solo presentation, Bedroom Interview, SMAC Gallery, Cape Town (2018). As well as group shows such as In My Private Moments , National Gallery of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo (2016); and most recently Five Bhobh – Painting at the End of an Era, Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (2018 – 2019).
