The artist Hugo McCloud explores issues related to the value of labour and the social economy. He is interested in using discarded or ignored materials to encourae new perceptions in the viewer. Within this interest, his recent body of work uses heat to fuse layers of internationally sourced plastic bags into large-scale painting and sculptural pieces.
In 2015, McCloud was the subject of solo exhibitions at The Arts Club, London and at Fondazione 107, Turin. McCloud was most recently featured in the group exhibition, A Constellation, at The Studio Museum, Harlem.
