Louisa Marajo’s mysterious artworks offer declinations of white, gray and black on composite materials, wood, paper and brushed aluminum. Real space and imaginary space intertwine, contaminate, build and deconstruct themselves permanently. This universe is made of crosses, entanglement, which give birth to a work of an abundant purity.
Louisa Marajo’s installations are intended to be viewed as living organisms that ceaselessly transform, exhaust, destroy and rebuild themselves, generating drawings, photographs and paintings in the process. The installation presents a photo paper installation, a series of pencil drawings, pieces of painted palettes and images on aluminum of previous installations, opens towards works that end up perceived as more refined. Recently exhibiting at the Fondation Clément (Pictural) in Martinique and she is currently part of the year-long exhibition The Other Side of Now: Foresight in Contemporary Caribbean Art, at the Pérez Art Museum, Miami.
