
Hellen Gaudence is a NYC-based photography and video artist working between her home country, Tanzania and the United States. Her practice draws upon autobiographical narrative and historical memory and frames itself as a response to issues concerning identity, migration and contemporary construction of African Diasporic identity. Her work has been exhibited extensively, in exhibitions such as Here’s Looking at You, 1 Art on Broadway, Tucson; Building Bridges Across Nations, Museo de Arte Nogales, Nogales; Un|Moored: Oscillations & Migrations, Dessai Matta Gallery, San Francisco, all in 2017. Her work features in public and private collections internationally, including the California Institute of Integral Studies Library, among others.
