Yonatan Wondwosen
Lives & Works in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Yonatan Wondwosen grew up in an artistic family and thus was acquainted with art from a young age. He graduated from Addis Ababa University Alle School of Fine Art and Design with a BA in Fine Art from the department of sculpture. Wondwosen uses meticulous collage and paint techniques on paper or canvas to create his precise and detailed artworks. As an artistic vessel he looks to communicate a message through the emphasis principle which allows the subject to dominate in his works. Alternative images must only appear to support the focal point.  Wondwosen has participated in a solo show at the Guramayne Art Center in 2021 and several group exhibitions throughout Ethiopia, including an exhibit at the National Museum of Ethiopia in 2012, the Addis Art Fair in 2014, in the Art of Ethiopia exhibition in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and Modern Art Museum and Gandur museum in Geneva in 2022. Yonatan Wondwosen will be presented by Versant Sud.
