Admire Kamudzengerere’s practice explores identity, politics, and society and is informed by the multifaceted structural and social issues that have marked Zimbabwe’s last decade. Kamudzengerere completed the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten programme in Amsterdam (2012) and his works was exhibited as part of the Zimbabwean Pavilion at the 57th edition of La Biennale di Venezia, Venice (2017). He has also exhibited at the Fifth Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, Moscow, as part of the project, Playing Nature (2013). He has participated in numerous residencies, including the Triangle Arts Association, Brooklyn, New York (2017); Guns & Rain, Johannesburg, South Africa (2016) and Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2012–13). He has won awards and fellowships including the Thami Mnyele Foundation, Amsterdam (2014); the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012); the Hivos Foundation (2011) and the Culture Fund Zimbabwe (2010).
