Florence Nanteza
Lives & Works in Masaka, Uganda
Florence Nanteza was born and raised in Masaka. Being the last born among her siblings, as a child she battled low self-esteem that led her to seek refuge in drawing. Through drawing she expressed her emotions about the surroundings in which she lived and how they impacted her daily life. Beyond her artistic endeavours, Nanteza is deeply passionate about the profound impact of plants on wellness. Drawing from her experiences working at a local herbal clinic, she acquired invaluable insights into the therapeutic properties of herbal medicine. This symbiotic relationship between art and nature is reflected in Nanteza's work.

In 2020, Nanteza became a member of "Ndege Ya Akili", an incubator programme in Masaka that supports young Ugandan artists. Three years later, Nanteza was a laureate for Tilga Art Fund 2023 and her artwork has a distinction to be showcased at a major art fair in Italy and Taiwan respectively in 2023.

Florence Nanteza will be presented by Amasaka Gallery.
