Fatiha Zemmouri
Born 1966 in Casablanca, Morocco
Lives and works between Casablanca and Marrakech, Morocco
Fatiha Zemmouri develops an elaborated work in which natural phenomena, materials, and dirt have an essential place. Loaded with tension, her work marks the various phases of human mutation
and evolution during the cycle of life. The symbolism of the materials is an allegory through which Zemmouri examines universal concerns related to humanity, such as the tragedy of existence and the question of man’s finitude. Her works have been shown in numerous international museums, such as the Fondation Thalie of Bruxelles, l’Institut des Cultures d’Islam and l’Institut du Monde Arabe, both in Paris, and MACAAL in Marrakech. She also participated at the Marrakech Biennale (2016) and the Dakar Biennale (2010).
