Emmie Nume
Lives & Works in Margate, UK
Emmie Nume’s work reflects his deeply intuitive practice. He captures the essence of emotions through spontaneous and free expression that is devoid of meticulous, formal calculations. Nume’s ability to combine spontaneous abstraction and figurative complexities speaks of the freedom he grants himself while creating. Nume’s personal experiences act as points of departure for his visual expressions. His visual language interrogates the internal and the intimate, bringing the unseen to the surface whilst communicating with audiences.  Nume held his debut solo exhibition, ‘When Thoughts Attack Me’ in 2023 at Afriart Gallery. He has shown in ‘I Draw, Therefore I Think’ with South South Art in 2021, and ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ at Afriart Gallery in 2022. His work has also been exhibited at Art Basel Miami Beach, Liste Art Fair, FNB Joburg, ARCO Lisbon, and Investec Cape Town Art Fair. Since February 2023, Nume has been an artist-in-resident at the Tracey Emin Foundation in Margate, UK. Emmie Nume will be presented by Afriart Gallery.
