Born in 1981 in Akouda, Tunisia. Lives and works in Tunis, Tunisia
Trained in engraving, photography, and videography, Fakhri El Ghezal’s work shapes the body’s various resonances by incessantly moving back and forth between the memory of the flesh and those of images. Revolving obsessively around faces, images, bodies, and photographic objects, El Ghezal mines gestures with a patience that resembles a farmer waiting the slow emergence of fruit for harvest.
El Ghezal is a graduate of the Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Tunis (2004), and holds a Masters of Arts and Communication from the Institute of Fine Arts of Nabeul, Tunisia. His photographic project, 'Abdel Basset Patchwork', was selected for Bamako’s Rencontres Photographiques (2007).
